Coffee bag label sizes for 12 oz and other bags
Five starting sizes for the front, the side gusset, the back and a wrap band. Then measure your filled bag: the valve, zipper, seals and gussets decide what actually fits.

Choose where the label goes, then the size
A front label, a back label, a narrow gusset panel and a wrap band do different jobs. Don’t pick by bag weight alone.

Why 4 × 5 inches is only a starting point
How the bag is built
Flat-bottom, stand-up and side-gusset bags have different fronts, even when they hold the same coffee.
What’s in the way
Valves, zippers, tear notches, top seals and gusset folds all shrink the flat area a label can sit on.
The bag once it’s full
Coffee pushes the bag out and changes how wide the front looks on the shelf. Measure a full bag.
Keep the brand apart from the roast details
- Stays the same on every bag
- Your name and look, your website, brewing or storage notes that never change, and the layout the whole line shares.
- Changes with each roast
- Coffee name, origin, producer, process and variety; roast level and tasting notes; weight, roast date or lot; barcode or seasonal mark.
A front label plus a back label makes new roasts easier: only the back changes. Check the required wording for your product before you approve. Measuring something else? Use the general size guide.

Questions
Anything else? See the pricing page or ask us.
What size label works on a 12 oz coffee bag?
A 4 by 5 inch front label is our usual starting point for a standard 12 oz coffee bag. Bag dimensions and constructions vary, so measure the filled bag’s flat printable panel and clear the valve, zipper, top seal, and gussets.
Can I use a 4 by 6 inch label on a coffee bag?
The 4 by 6 inch preset provides a larger front panel for more product detail, but it only works when the actual bag has enough flat printable height and width after clearing its features.
What size is the side-gusset coffee label preset?
The narrow side-gusset front preset is 2.5 by 5.5 inches. Measure the specific gusset panel because bag widths, folds, and filled geometry vary.
What belongs on a coffee bag back label?
A back label can carry brewing guidance, storage copy, roast or best-by fields, business details, a barcode, and other supporting information. The business remains responsible for required and regulated copy.
Should I measure an empty or filled coffee bag?
Use the production bag in the state closest to application and sale. Filling changes the front panel, gussets, curves, and visible shelf angle, so an empty-bag measurement alone can be misleading.
Can I upload an existing coffee bag label at a custom size?
Yes. Upload your file, enter the size you want, and check the proof. Most sizes are priced on the spot; if yours isn’t, we’ll quote it by email.
